Was ist Leben?
Title
Was ist Leben?
Description
Was ist Leben? shows a dark green vase decorated with vegetal patterns on the belly and three bands on the neck. A lily and green bushy plant are in the vase. Perched on its rim is a hummingbird. Fetherston said that in Was ist Leben?, "The hummingbird just cannot understand what life is all about. Life is too complicated for it to understand." In the lower right of the painting is a hen and her five chicks scratching at the ground. The background is an orange and white wash across the surface.
