Title

Astarte, The Goddess of Love

Description

In this oil painting on canvas entitled, Astarte, The Goddess of Love, a group of blacked-eyed susans grow out of a four-legged, dark gray pot that floats against a white, blue, and gray scumbled background. The background has been created with a palette knife over a rust-colored paint that occasionally shows through. Two miniature detailed figures are drawn in the bottom corners. On the left, is a figure painted yellow against a purple cloud. On the right is a female figure, holding a type of scepter and wearing a headdress. Many of the details appear drawn, rather than painted.
