On the Brink

This painting shows a breaking wave. Behind it in the upper left hand corner are green forms suggesting pine trees. Plants growing out of sandy brown soil are also visible in the foreground. The paint here is extremely thick, creating a richly textured surface. There is also a very free use of color in this canvas with pinks and yellows added into the blues and greens of the water. The entire composition is abstract and emphasizes color and painting techniques more than the creation of a mimetic image.
