The Green Vase
Title
The Green Vase
Description
In Orchids in a Green Vase light shines through the densely painted warm blue sky onto a vase with a long neck holding three orange orchids with a purple centers. The vase is decorated with alternating green and dark blue bands. Fetherston decorated the top and bottom bands with a type of illegible script. The colors of the background repeat those of the vase and flowers. The brightness of the flowers, however makes them stand out as the central focus of the work. This painting appears to have been painted over another painting, because some flowers show through the more transparent sections of background.
