Description

The painting is dominated by a large dark purple vase with a small neck and mouth. A Cattleya Superba, a South American plant that flowers in July and August, is placed in the vase. There are five flowers painted in shades of purple, red, and yellow. The five flowers bloom off a single stem, and two large flat leaves fan out towards the front and back of the vase. The background is grey-green wash with visible horizontal brushstrokes.
