Title

The Red Rose

Description

The Red Rose shows a single red rose placed in a painted vase. The background is made up of abstract black and white paint. The vase is black and decorated with purple and green decoration and groupings of small white flowers. Fetherston’s style seems bolder in this work. She takes a different approach, applying the paint to the background with a palette knife. She pays more attention to the canvas as a whole rather than focusing on just the accurate rendering of the flowers.
