Description
This bronze statue is a copy of the Hellenistic statue “Venus de Milo” housed in the Louvre (Paris, France). The head of the lady has her hair tied up in the back in a bun. Her torso follows the S curve. The torso is nude to just above the hips. Drapery covers the legs. She has no arms. The “Venus de Milo” was discovered by the French in 1820 off the island of Melos. There have been many copies in a range of mediums made since the original was discovered.
