L'Aurore
Title
L'Aurore
The Sun Lifiting the Clouds in the Early Morning
Description
In L'Aurore clouds drip down from the sky above an abstract landscape. After it was applied and while it was still wet, the paint was allowed to run, creating the impression of mountains or hills. At the bottom left hand corner of the foreground Fetherston painted a meticulously rendered gray-blue orchid. Its carefully painted flowers sit in front of a chaotic mass of green that seems to have been created by a combination of two techniques -- letting the paint run and applying it in a more controlled manner.
