Description
The background of The Mauvre Butterfly, or Potentilla uniflora is a wash of gray and white horizontal brushstrokes. In the center of the painting is a cylindrical ribbed black planter that rests on three feet. Inside is a yellow buttercup with seven flowers all pointing up in different directions. Perched on the tallest flower is a mauve butterfly shown in profile.
