Title

Flowers in a Blue Vase

Description

In Flowers in a Blue Vase the background is a light gray-green wash, which the artist has allowed to run in various directions. In the lower left section of the painting is a depiction of a ram, and in the lower right section is a depiction of a stylized horse with a decorative mane. The animals are outlined in gray-blue but their bodies are painted the same color as the background. The majority of the composition is taken up by a vase that has an elongated egg shape. In the lowest band of the vase are three horizontal ridges, then there is a band of z-shaped curves and then a wide band of foliate design. The vase is a darker shade of the gray-green-blue background. Yellow-green orchids, ferns--both green and light orange, and other types of leaves and flowers fill the vase.
